Battersea's new arrivals

Even the wickedest witch would melt at the sight of these beautiful Akita puppies. Brought into the world by the dedicated staff at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s Windsor site, Lion, Courage, Munchkin, Dorothy and Toto are getting bigger and stronger by the day and it won’t be too long before they are ready to find loving new homes. Could that be with you?

Their mother was brought to Battersea Old Windsor as a stray back in March and four weeks later, on 12 April, she gave birth to these five delightful puppies. The famous animal rescue centre is now appealing for people to rehome them.

Although Akita puppies look like cuddly teddy bears they grow into large, dominant and independent dogs and require experienced owners with an understanding of the breed. “Akitas have strong characters and need to be socialised from a young age” says Sam Tuduwage, Breed Rescue Coordinator at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. “They are also highly intelligent and need plenty of physical and mental stimulation. Akitas make loyal and affectionate companions, but people should not choose them on looks alone.”

If you have the heart, courage and brains to offer one of these Akita puppies the home they deserve, please contact Battersea Old Windsor on 01784 494443 or email [email protected] The puppies are not ready for rehoming until June 7 and anyone wanting to adopt one will need to complete Battersea’s rehoming application process.
