Families bowled over by trip to Lord’s Cricket Ground
Shooting Star children and their families enjoy annual trip to the home of cricket
Families cared for by Shooting Star have enjoyed a VIP day at Lord's Cricket Ground. Thanks to the MCC, this is the fourth time that Shooting Star has been invited to the ground, where families are given the chance to take an exclusive tour of the ground and museum as well as top seats to watch a match in action.
After a full tour of all the facilities, the families took their VIP seats in the hospitality section to watch Middlesex take on rivals Surrey. Following the exciting match, the children and their families were able to meet some of the players including ex - New Zealand cricketer Iain O'Brien who is currently out of action with an injury, and Scott Newman. Families also met Toby Roland-Jones, who after his meeting with the children went on to take five wickets in the afternoon session.
'As always, we are so grateful to MCC for its continued support of Shooting Star,' says Community Fundraising Manager, Mike Hey. 'This is the fourth family day that we have been to, and the families have been treated like royalty which gives them a real break from the day to day challenges they face. Today's fixture was also very significant given the announcement that we are soon to be merging with CHASE, as Shooting Star is one of Middlesex's main children's hospices, and the same for CHASE and Surrey.'
