Sutton students top of the A-Level class

Sutton’s students proved they were star pupils in this year’s A-levels.

The results are on track to surpass the record scores achieved by Sutton’s schools in previous years, underlining the borough’s reputation as one of the top performing local authorities in the country.

Early indications reveal more students than ever before have achieved the top grades and the average points score per pupil has also hit a new high.

This is the first year that the new A* grade has been awarded, with dozens of pupils in Sutton achieving the score.

Cllr Kirsty Jerome, Sutton Council’s Executive Member for Education and Schools, said: "Once again, Sutton has excelled at A-level and shown it fully deserves its reputation as a place with the best schools in the country.

“I congratulate all our young people on their wonderful achievements. The students have worked really hard and they should be proud of what they have achieved. Well done to them and their teachers, parents and carers who have supported them along the way."

The students from the 14 London Borough of Sutton schools were among more a quarter of a million teenagers picking up their A-level results today.
