Mayor spreads Christmas cheer at Kingston Hospital
Her Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, Councillor Chrissie Hitchcock and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Ken Smith JP, along with the Mayor’s Chaplain - Reverend Ken Walker from the Kingston John Bunyan Baptist Church paid a Christmas visit to staff and patients at Kingston Hospital today.
Mayor Chrissie Hitchcock and her party were shown around the Hospital by Kate Grimes the Chief Executive of Kingston Hospital and Christopher Smallwood the Chairman of Kingston Hospital – they paid visits to the Surgical Centre, the Neonatal Unit and the Paediatrics Department, they also met with the Chairman and Treasurer of the charity, Friends of Kingston Hospital.
The Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Chaplain spoke with elderly patients, Nurses, Matrons, Consultants, and parents of sick babies. The Mayor was amazed by the work conducted to help save the lives of poorly babies on the Neonatal Unit. She also spent time observing the life-saving equipment, some of which has been funded through Kingston Hospital’s official Neonatal charity - Born to Soon.
