Travel misery in Kingston
 There is travel chaos for many people in Kingston today as a burst water main restricts Clarence Street to one lane by the Eden Street junction.
Knock-on effects are being felt around the one-way system, along Cambridge Road, London Road, Penrhyn Road and Kingston Hill.

Man charged with murder of Thornton Heath man
A man’s been charged with the murder of another man in Croydon.
30 year old Lobsang Hassan is accused of killing 34 year old Darren Deslandes in the Newton Arms Pub on January 1st.
He’ll appear at Camberwell Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Two men were shot inside the pub. Mr Deslandes died from a wound to the head.
Another man is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

SOS Sutton
 An elderly woman, who was stranded during a shopping trip when her mobility scooter broke down in the snow, was rescued by officers from Sutton’s Safer Transport Team. Joan Dawes, aged 70, had just completed a shopping trip and was travelling by Sutton BR station on her way home when the battery failed on her vehicle.

Surrey Youth League Matches Cancelled
All Surrey youth football matches scheduled for Sunday have been cancelled.
The bad weather means the pitches are too hard to play on and travelling conditions too dangerous.

Happy ending for Sutton man
A dog reported stolen in Sutton yesterday has been found safe and well.
Jackie the Jack Russell was taken by two men in full view of its owner on Crown Road.
But following an appeal by Jackie News – Jackie was returned to the pensioner.
The 77-year-old heard a familiar bark and discovered the canine back on his doorstep.

New speed limit for Putney housing estate
A housing estate in Putney could be reduced to a 20 mile per hour speed limit.
Concerned residents on the Dover House Estate are concerned its being used as a cut through from Roehampton Lane.
If plans for a speed limit are approved, a public consultation will be drawn up with costs met by Transport for London.
Roads that would be affected include the Upper Richmond Road and Putney Heath.

Teen stabbed in Mitcham
A 19 year old has been stabbed on Church Road in Mitcham.
Police were called to the scene just after 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon.
They’re not linking the stabbing with a similar incident in Norbury yesterday lunchtime where a man in his twenties was also stabbed.

Bad weather means the away match will now be played at AFC Wimbledon's ground on Tuesday . . . weather permitting.

Middlesex are close to signing South Africa paceman Makhaya Ntini.
Speculation that Ntini is set to retire from Test cricket has gathered pace after he was left out of South Africa's side to face England in the third Test.

Jenson Button starts work in Woking
In formula 1 – world champion Jenson Button has officially started work in Woking.
The 29-year-old’s wearing Vodafone McLaren colours for the first time.
Brawn bosses had held onto Button until his contract with them expired on the New Year’s Eve.
He’s told fans of his excitement at joining the team for 2010.
Pundits have called this year a “battle of the January babies”.
Button, Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher all celebrate their birthdays this month.

Police make appeals after crash in Englefield Green
Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man died in a car crash in Englefield Green.
Officers say the 74-year-old's Honda came off St Jude's Road on Saturday after he suffered breathing difficulties.
He was treated at the scene by passers by and police before being taken to St Peter's Hospital where he later died.

Police make appeals in Battersea after fatal crash
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a fatal road accident in Battersea.
A car was in collision with a pedestrian in Thessaly Road 3 days before Xmas.
The victim’s been named as 58 year old Lai-Mei Pang from Battersea.
Police say despite the weather – there was a lot of people in the area at the time and are appealing for help.

More details released in Thornton Heath murder investigation
The suspect in the Thornton Heath murder inquiry is thought to have escaped in a 4x4.
That’s the latest from detectives investigating the killing of Darren Deslandes.
The 34 year old was shot in the head at a private party at the Newton Arms pub on New Year's Eve.
His brother, whose 26, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Reward offered in Stanwell
A reward’s being offered to try and find vandals who caused damage to a council flat in Stanwell.
Windows were broken, bathroom and electric fittings destroyed, doors ripped off and the water was left on at the Long Lane flat.
It’s estimated the cost of the damage is around 30 thousand pounds.
Spelthorne Council said it was offering the 500 pound reward in an "unprecedented move".

Bus victory across Chessington and Hook
Families across Chessington and Hook are celebrating a school bus victory.
Transport for London has confirmed plans to extend a service on the 467 route to and from Hinchley Wood school.
It will start next month.
MP Ed Davey who was involved in the campaign says he’s delighted pressure has paid off.

Search still on for two horses stolen in Shepperton
The search is still on for two miniature horses which were stolen in Shepperton.
The offenders broke in and stole them from Charlton Road last week.
Both horses are between 2 and 3 feet tall – one is grey and brown – the other grey with brown and white colourings.
Police want to hear from any-one who may have been approached about buying the animals.

Ashley Cole guilty of speeding
England footballer Ashley Cole has been found guilty of driving at more than 100 miles per hour in a 50 zone.
The Chelsea star was clocked doing 104 in his black Lamborghini on the A3 in Kingston in November 2008.
He'd claimed he was being chased by paparazzi.
Cole may be banned from driving when he's sentenced at the end of the month

Surrey MP stands down
A Surrey MP is retiring after representing the same constituency for 18 years.
Peter Ainsworth, was first elected to represent East Surrey in 1992, but the 67-year-old, says he will not contest the next general election.
The Conservative gave no reason for his decision to stand down.

Heathrow pilot admits drinking
An American pilot's admitted turning up to fly out of Heathrow Airport while over the alcohol limit.
Erwin Washington, from Colorado, had been due to captain a plane for Chicago when a colleague smelt booze on his breath.
The 51 year-old, who works for United Airlines, was arrested in November shortly before the flight was due to depart.

TRAVEL WARNING: Severe train disruption due to adverse weather
South West Trains and Southern Railway have cut off many lines and announced revised timetables in response to the adverse weather.
The operators have also announced that bus replacement services will not be offered - so travellers cut off by route closures are advised to make alternative arrangements.
So far, it’s been announced that trains won’t be running between Waterloo and Hampton Court, Chessington South, and to Guildford via Epsom and Leatherhead.
The Guildford via Cobham line will continue to run a twice hourly service.
Routes calling at Surbiton and further into London will still be running, but with less frequency.
Woking and Dorking will be served by twice hourly runs to and from Waterloo. And several routes through Victoria will be cancelled, with Brighton-bound trains terminating at Gatwick.
