Wandsworth Council makes tunnel plea
Wandsworth council is urging residents to voice their concerns about the Thames Tunnel project.

It's making the plea before the public consultation ends in the middle of January.

The scheme, which is being developed by Thames Water, would create six major construction sites across Wandsworth and a seventh at Barn Elms Playing Fields on the boundary with Richmond.

Wandsworth Council says it has serious concerns about the proposed Thames Tunnel scheme.

Councillors say they remain unconvinced the tunnel is the best way of cleaning up the Thames.

They fear the huge environmental impacts will outweigh any potential improvements in water quality.

Some members at Wimbledon angry over Olympic tickets
Some members of the All England Lawn Tennis Club in Wimbledon are angry at the cost of attending the Olympic tennis events in 2012.

Members have been offered the chance to buy early bird tickets now –with prices as high as £225 for a pair.
