Police question two over drugs find in Banstead

Police are questioning two men in connection with a drugs raid in Banstead.

Around 250 cannabis plants were discovered in a house in Court Road yesterday.

The pair in their twenties remain in custody.

Police track wanted Sunbury man
Police are trying to track down an offender who's wanted on recall to prison.

36 year old Nathan Smithers from Sunbury has breached the conditions of his release licence.

He was convicted of motor vehicle theft in 2009 and sentenced to 25 months.

He's white, about 5 foot 9 with dark brown hair and is known to have links in Ashford, Stanwell and Sunbury.

Rider injured in Staines crash
A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital after a serious accident in Staines.

The rider suffered pelvic injuries in the crash just before 9 this morning on Stanwell Moor Road.

Wandsworth regeneration moves forward
The 1 billion pound regeneration of Wandsworth Town is about to take another significant step forward.

Developers have announced they are about to begin a joint 80 million pound redevelopment of the two-acre Wandsworth Business Village site.

It sits between Broomhill Road and Buckhold Road.

The scheme, which already has planning permission, will create 80,000 sq ft of high quality commercial office space and 209 new homes.

Inquest rules accidental death in Sutton
An inquest has returned a verdict of accidental death in the case of an engineer who was killed in Sutton.

26 year old Andrew Ferrie died when he was crushed by a truck's loading bed after he was sent to fix it at Kimpton Park Industrial Estate in 2008.

The inquest ruled his death was due in part to inadequate training and unclear safety signage on the vehicle.

Fulham boss in Pinewood talks
Mohamed Al Fayed has revealed himself as potential buyer of Pinewood Studios.

In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, the former Harrods Owner said he’s considering an “all cash offer”.

He would need to stump up over £87 million to secure the Shepperton film studios.

Al Fayed faces competition to buy Pinewood from billionaire investor John Whittaker.

Ken issues Boris a tube warning
London Mayor Boris Johnson needs to get ‘a grip on the tube’

The warning comes from rival Ken Livingstone after commuters faced severe delays on the Jubilee line this morning.

Yesterday hundreds of passengers were stuck underground for almost an hour after a power failure on the same line.

Delays were also caused on the District, Circle and Metropolitan lines

Chelsea without Alex and Ramires
Chelsea will be without centre-back Alex and midfielder Ramires for the next two games because of hamstring injuries.

The pair missed the win at West Brom and will now also miss home games against Birmingham tonight and West Ham on Saturday.

Meanwhile Carlo Ancelotti insists Fernando Torres will break his Blues goalscoring duck before the end of the season.

The 50 million pound striker has gone 871 minutes without a goal.

Police hunt bus driver attacker in Croydon
Police are trying to trace a man who attacked a bus driver in Croydon.

The suspect on the 119 missed his stop and became aggressive punching the driver through his protective screen and assaulting him.

The suspect is white,bald and stocky and was wearing flowery shorts.

Heathrow Express workers to be balloted
Workers on the Heathrow Express rail service are to be balloted for strike action.

The RMT union said the move follows a row over pay.

They’ve rejected an offer from the company for the next two years – branding it ‘unsatisfactory’.

Radio stolen from ambulance in Woking
Police say the theft of a radio from an ambulance in Woking is 'despicable'.

Crews were on an emergency call in Maybury yesterday when it was taken.

The device has now been stunned – so Officers say it will be useless to the thief.

Carlo Ancelotti speaks out about claims of a job threat
Chelsea Boss Carlo Ancelotti says the club will live on if he loses his job.

His position is under threat after a relatively poor season, and he says the players can cope if he's shown the door.

The Italian has also been talking about the 50-million pound signing of Fernando Torres, who's gone 871 minutes without hitting the back of the net.

Ancelotti is convinced he'll break his duck before the end of the campaign.

An historical bell stolen from a school in Wallington
A large metal bell, which has been with a school in Wallington for 125 years, has been stolen.

The theft from the grounds of Beddington Infants School happened over the weekend when the school was closed.

Sutton Police Station is appealing for information.

Restoration plans in Putney are approved
Plans to rebuild and restore a threatened listed building in Putney and bring it back into everyday use have been approved.

Planners have agreed to a developer's proposals to rebuild and restore the former schoolkeeper's cottage at Brandlehow School.

The cottage was formerly part of the school until it was declared surplus to needs in 2001.

A man is charged over attack in Old Malden
A man’s been charged with attacking a Korean man in Old Malden.

Police were called to the roundabout in Sheephouse way in the early hours of Sunday to reports of a disturbance.

They found the 33 year old unconscious on the pavement outside a karaoke bar.

34 year old Sungkuk Mun will appear in court this afternoon.

Surrey app opens a new dimension to book lovers
Book lovers can now access Surrey’s books on the go thanks to a series of free apps.

Residents can now access the county’s online library which currently hosts 600 titles.

Almost 1000 people have signed up to use the facility, with nearly 20 thousand titles having been borrowed.

A man from Egham is arrested over pig theft
A used car salesman from Egham has been arrested in connection with the theft of 9 micro-piglets.

The piglets said to be worth 700 pounds each were pinched at the end of March.

So far four of the animals have been returned to their owner near Dorking.

The 21 year old has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police are still appealing for information to find the others.

Police investigate theft in Wallington
A large metal bell, which has been with a school in Wallington for 125 years, has been stolen.

The theft from the grounds of Beddington Infants School happened over the weekend when the school was closed.

Police investigate attack in Epsom
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after two men were assaulted in Epsom.

It happened in Roseberry Park in Ashley Road.

The victims were sitting in the park when they were approached by two suspects who began taunting and threatening them.

The suspects used T-shirts to ‘whip’ one victim’s head before punching and kicking him.

The second victim tried to intervene but was punched in the face.

Police search for missing man
Police in Surrey are renewing appeals to find a missing man.

58 year old Brian Hynard left his home in Thames Valley 4 weeks ago.

His car was later found abandoned in Brockham.

Searches are now being carried out at local beauty spots including Box Hill.

Brian is white around 6 foot 2 with short grey hair and glasses.

Chinese Olympic team head for Twickenham
It’s been announced that the Chinese Olympic team will be based in Twickenham as they prepare for the 2012 games.

They’ll be using the training facilities at the Strawberry Hill campus of St Mary’s University College.

The agreement between the Chinese Athletic Association and the university was signed yesterday.

China are the third team, along with South Africa and Ireland, to confirm they’ll be using the multi-million pound sport centre.

Surrey's Pietersen ready for England
Kevin Pietersen hopes he'll be fit to play for England when they start their summer of cricket against Sri Lanka at the end of next month.

The Surrey batsman is recovering from hernia surgery, which forced him to leave the World Cup.

He says a rest is doing him well.

London football clubs to pay for parking management
Chelsea, Fulham and QPR have agreed to pay for match day traffic management.

It will save taxpayers an estimated 100 thousand pounds a year.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council will no longer have to send down its own staff to oversea traffic or pay for putting up road signs or barriers.

Edward Lister to assist Boris Johnson
Wandsworth Council leader Edward Lister is to take over as the Mayor of London’s chief of staff and deputy mayor for planning.

He has led Wandsworth since 1992 and succeeds Sir Simon Milton who died last week.

He is expected to begin work at City Hall next month and will manage the Mayor's budgets, and relations with the boroughs.

He is currently leader of the Conservative Group on London Councils.

Charity workers in Balham finds drugs in a shoe
A charity shop worker from Balham has spoken out after finding a thousand pounds worth of crack cocaine in a shoe.

Salvation Army worker Julian Short found the drug stuffed inside some socks in a pair of Nike trainers.

The shoes had been donated to the Balham High Road branch, which he was sorting through.

The 43 year old says this is the most unusual donation he’s ever come across. Police are investigating.

Lewis Hamilton says it was one of his best wins
Lewis Hamilton says his victory in the Chinese Grand Prix was one of the best of his career.

The Woking driver used his McLaren team's three-stop strategy to chase down Sebastian Vettel and take the lead with four laps to go.

Hamilton closed to within 21 points of Vettel to be second in the drivers' championship.

Met Commissioner back on duty
The commissioner of the Metropolitan Police has returned to work early after illness.

Sir Paul Stephenson was expected back next month after suffering complications following two operations to remove a pre-cancerous growth on his leg.

But it's been confirmed that he's returned to his official duties this morning.

QPR manager Neil Warnock is expected to name an unchanged line-up for tonight's championship clash with Derby.

Matt Connolly who came back into the side for the win at Barnsley, looks likely to retain his place.

Fire at business park in Woking
A fire has severely damaged a joinery warehouse at a business park in Woking.

Fire crews were called to The Mayford Centre in Mayford Green just before 7 this morning.

There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Twickenham Station Redevelopment
Residents in Twickenham are stepping up their campaign against high rise flats on the site of the town’s rail station.

A planning decision is expected to be taken soon on the controversial development. The Twickenham Residents Action Group - or TRAG - has gathered nearly three thousand signatures in protest with five hundred objections lodged with the council.

TRAG spokesman John Milner says the town deserves better.
