Police search for man who went missing while trying to cross the Thames at Kingston
Investigations are continuing after a man went missing in the River Thames on Thursday evening.
It’s believed he was trying to swim from one side to the other when he disappeared under the surface.
Onlookers tried to rescue the man, who is believed to be in his early 20’s.
Police say they are treating the case as a missing persons investigation.

Leatherhead man charged after wedding celebrations
A man from Leatherhead is one of five people charged with rowdy behaviour following yesterday's royal wedding celebrations.
26 year old Terry Butts was one of 55 people arrested as thousands took to the streets.
He's been charged with racially aggravated behaviour and will appear in court on May 6th.

Woman gets hit by a train in Croydon
A woman has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a tram in Croydon.
The woman, thought to be in her 20’s, was taken to hospital after the accident just after 10.30.
Tram Services have been suspended while investigations are carried out.

A tragedy happens in Hammersmith
A woman's been killed in a road crash in Hammersmith.
There was a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian in the Broadway just after 8 this morning.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Two arrested over shooting in Brixton
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man from Croydon.
Raymond Mitchell was shot as he walked along Marcus Garvey Way in Brixton in the early hours of April 17th.
It’s believed he had been involved in a queue jumping row in a fast food restaurant the night before.
The two men aged 17 and 27 are being questioned at separate police stations.

Lord Seb Coe visits Chessington Community College
Lord Seb Coe has been visiting students in Chessington today to talk about next year's Olympics.
He spoke to pupils at the Community College and also presented it into the Olympic Get Set Programme – which is an education scheme.
Millions of lucky hopefuls are in line to attend next years London Olympics. Last nights deadline to buy tickets was extended to cope with the high demand.
However some people are said to have missed out.
The former Olympic gold medallist spoke to Radio Jackie's Adam Leone.
Road signs in Surrey now fixed
30 thousand pounds has been set aside to make sure vehicle activated road signs in Surrey keep working.
It now means all signs in need of repair have been fixed or replaced.
They flash to remind drivers to slow down.
The County Council recently revealed that the number of people killed on roads has fallen since 2009.

Police hunt bogus officer in Sutton
A 90 year old woman from Sutton’s become the latest victim of a distraction burglary
A man posing as a police officer claimed to be calling about a recent break-in and showed the victim fake id
He stole cash from her on Saturday and its believed the suspect tried to carry out a similar crime in Wallington the day before
The suspect’s white, between 30 and 40, 6ft with short dark hair.

Pinewood Shepperton sold
Pinewood Shepperton is to be bought by the privately owned property company Peel Holdings.
Peel values the film studio business at £96m and is offering 200p a share for the 70%of the business it does not already own.
Pinewood studios is home to the James Bond franchise.
It increased its offer by around £8m in the face of rival take-over interest from former Harrods owner Mohamed al Fayed.
The deal has been given the unanimous support of the Pinewood Shepperton board and it may be completed by June.

Brentford striker's season is over
Brentford striker Gary Alexander has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
The 31-year-old has hit 12 goals for the League One club this season.

Drugs charge for Banstead pair
Two men have been charged with producing drugs after a raid at a cannabis factory in Banstead.
21 year old Khanx Tran and 22 year old Chinh Dinh will appear before magistrates on Thursday.
Over 200 plants were uncovered after a search warrant was carried out at the property on Court Road last Wednesday.

Man blinded in sewer explosion
A workman injured in a sewer explosion in New Malden has been left blind in one eye.
The 24 year old was thrown to the ground during the accident on the Kingston road last month.
It’s thought one of the generators Thames Water was using to repair the collapsed sewer had been tampered with.
The Health and Safety executive and the police are investigating.

Woking care centre to close
Surrey County Council is expected to give the go-ahead soon to close Squirrel Lodge respite centre in Woking.
Facilities are expected to be transferred to Applewood in Tadworth.
A decision is expected later today.

A VIP arrival for passengers at Heathrow
Heathrow is rolling out the red carpet.
It's giving arriving passengers a welcome fit for any future King or Queen.
To celebrate Will and Kate’s big day the airport is laying half a kilometre of red carpet in all of its arrivals halls.
It's been laid to enable the 246,000 passengers expected to pass through the airport a chance to experience a royal welcome.

Three injured in crash in Woking
The bank holiday weekend turned to tragedy yesterday afternoon when three elderly people were hit by a car near a golf club in Woking.
An 83 year old man from Birmingham is in intensive care after the accident on the Old Woking Road just before 3pm.
An 84 year old woman, also from Birmingham, and a 55 year old woman from the West Midlands, received minor injuries.
The air ambulance was called to the scene and the three were taken to St George's in Tooting.

Tributes paid to BBC funny man
The TV world's been paying tribute to John Sullivan - one of Britain's most successful television writers - who died at his home in Tadworth on Saturday, aged 64
He was the creator of TV comedy classics, including the long-running series Only Fools and Horses.
He also wrote Citizen Smith and Just Good Friends, and the third and final episode of his latest work Rock & Chips will be shown on BBC One on Thursday.
The BBC's head of comedy, Mark Freeland, says Sullivan drew much of his inspiration from real life.

Tributes to Chiswick Community College Student
Friends have been paying tribute to a teenage girl who died at a house party in Ladbroke Grove.
It's thought 15-year old Isobel Reilly, from Acton, fell ill after taking drugs at a lecturer's house on Friday night. Ambulance crews were called to the property early on Saturday.
60 year old Brian Dodgeon from Kensington's now being questioned on suspicion of child abandonment and possessing drugs. He's been bailed until June.
A 14-year-old girl and two boys, both aged 14, were also taken to hospital as a precaution. They are currently being kept in hospital for observation.
