Police investigate attack in Sutton
Police have described as 'nasty' an attack on a young couple in Sutton Town centre.
They were set on by members of a gang of 20 youths on a 164 bus journey on Derby day.
The 17 year old victim had a burning cigarette flicked at her and the couple were kicked and punched.
Some members of the group left the scene by getting onto a 154 bus whilst others made their way back towards the High Street.
The couple suffered bruising and cuts.

Reward on offer for help in fatal crash
Police are offering a reward for information into a fatal collision in 2008.
Frances Mullaney, from Hayes, died of her injuries after the four car crash in Northholt on 26th October.
One of the cars, a Toyota MR2, failed to stop at the scene and was reported stolen from an address in Isleworth.
Officers are offering a reward of 10-thousand pounds for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.

Farage blasts parking charges at Surrey hospitals
A Surrey MEP has blasted car park charges at Ashford and St Peters hospitals.
Nigel Farage is critical of the proposals to charge staff to park if they live within a two mile radius of the hospital.
He says in order to meet our meaningless EU carbon emission targets they are hurting the people whom they should be supporting.

Engineers from Kingston University take to the town’s Market Square to demonstrate their work designing green motorbikes to shoppers.
Wimbledon look forward to league fixtures
AFC Wimbledon will find out later on this morning who they'll play first on their return to league football.
The fixtures for the 2011-2012 football season are announced today.
You can find out who your team has got from nine o'clock.
Games will be announced for both English and Scottish teams.

More copper thefts in Surrey
Police are appealing for information after telecommunications cabling worth approximately £20,000 was stolen in Surrey.
The theft took place on Tuesday night along New Road in Windlesham.
Thieves took around 500 metres of cable causing telephone lines to be disrupted.

The German side have turned their attentions to the 28-year-old after failing to agree a fee with Man City for defender Jerome Boateng.

Police appeal after Woking attack
A teenager's suffered a broken nose and facial injuries after being attacked in Woking.
The 16 year old was set on by a gang of youths close to the station on Saturday night and hit with a wine bottle after he refused to hand over money.
Police have described it as a vicious and unprovoked attack.
The suspects are four girls and two boys.

Missing man from Cheam - found
A 65-year-old man from Cheam who went missing has been found.
Nigel Martin was last seen at lunchtime yesterday in Epsom High Street.
He was located safe and well in New Malden this morning.

The man accused of killing schoolgirl Milly Dowler has refused to give evidence at the Old Bailey.
Levi Bellfield told judge that he would not be speaking in his defence.
The remains of 13 year-old Milly were found six months after she disappeared in Walton in 2002.

K's manager to take on new challenge
After a long season Kingstonian manager Alan Dowson is taking on yet another challenge.
Next month he’ll be joined by other members of the club in a triathlon in aid of the Emily Ash Trust.
The Trust sets up activities for children and their families who are dealing with cancer.
Now Dowson is looking for people who can give up their time to run, cycle and swim for a good cause.

Fast food robbery in Epsom
Police are appealing for information after burglars stole a cash till from a pizza outlet in Epsom.
The robbery happened in the early hours of yesterday morning in Kingston Road.
Four suspects smashed the main front window and stole the till which contained a large amount of money.
The suspects are all white and about sixteen.

The ancient market place in Kingston is to receive a makeover to enhance the appearance and atmosphere of the area.
The council is encouraging local businesses and visitors to share their views on how it can be improved.
The much-loved space was recently voted Britain’s second ‘Best Shopping’ area in the Google Street View Awards 2011.

Residents and businesses in Claygate and Banstead are celebrating today.
It’s after Surrey County Council agreed to refer plans to implement parking charges back to the community.
Campaigners will now get another chance to have their say on how the charges should be enforced.

Police in Surrey issue a laser warning
Police in Surrey are warning of the dangers of laser pen misuse after a massive rise in offences.
Many involve people deliberately pointing the devices at other members of the public or vehicles.
There's been a 270 per cent increase in reported cases across Surrey over the last six months compared to the same period last year.
Two years ago a 21-year-old woman from Feltham was handed a six month suspended jail sentence.
It's after shining a powerful laser into the cockpit of the Surrey Police helicopter which flying over Staines.

Murray fourth seed at Wimbledon
Andy Murray has been seeded number four at Wimbledon.
The tournament begins next week with defending champion Rafael Nadal number one, followed by Novak Djokovic and then Roger Federer.
Defending women's champion Serena Williams has been seeded eighth.
Caroline Wozniacki who is yet to win a Grand Slam event, is top seed.

Investigations underway in Addlestone
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Addlestone.
The raid took place in Liberty Lane last week.
The victim, an 18-year-old man answered the door and was confronted by a group of suspects who forced their way inside.
A number of the suspects held the victim down and threatened him while others searched several rooms in the house and stole jewellery.
Police have carried out extensive house to house enquiries in the area and are in the process of reviewing CCTV coverage.

Police - new appeals after burglaries in Egham
Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with a series of burglaries in Egham.
Three flats in a block of sheltered accommodation flats off Blays Lane were broken into recently.
The suspect's white between 18 and 25-years-old, around 6ft tall, slim,with short dark hair.

More debt in South London..?
Londoners who live south of the River Thames are likely to owe £800 more than if they lived north of the river.
That's according to a leading debt charity.
Londoners contacting the charity for help in 2010 owed an average of £19,951 in unsecured debt if they lived in the south.
That compares to £19,130 in the north.
The difference of just over 8 hundred pounds is enough to cover the cost of travelling to work on the Tube every morning for a whole year.

Service personnel are marching through Epsom and Ewell.
The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment was given the honour of Freedom of the Borough last year by the Council.
The parade began at the Market Place where the regiment was presented with the freedom scroll.

Morden woman given Community Order
A 23-year-old woman who spat in a police officer’s face whilst in custody at Sutton Police Station has been sentenced to a Community Order.
It also includes an eight-week night-time curfew and electronic tagging.
Kerry Whyatt from Morden, was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.

He was seen meeting the Red Bull team principal Christian Horner at the Canadian Grand Prix.

Feltham man jailed for false benefit claims
A man from Feltham has been sentenced to nine weeks in prison for falsely claiming housing and council tax benefit.
47 year old Gurdarshan Mandan had made a series of claims relating to his income, bank accounts and the amount of capital in his name.
He was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid community work.

A 19 year woman was attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning in Cornwall Avenue.
The suspect is white with short mousey brown hair, around 5ft 6ins and in his early 20's.
Police say he has a twitching jaw which moved from side to side when he spoke.

Million pound burglary in Leatherhead
Jewellery worth around one million pounds has been stolen from a property in Leatherhead.
A £70,000 pair of chandelier platinum and diamond earrings and a five carat diamond and platinum ring were taken yesterday.
Burglars also made off with a number of silver and gold coins in red boxes.
Witnesses have reported seeing a dark-coloured Ford Fiesta driving around the Leatherhead around the time of the raid.
One person reported seeing five men inside the vehicle.

Three charged in connection with Wandsworth murder investigation
Three men have been charged in connection with the murder of a man in Wandsworth.
47 year old Leroy Burnett was found dead after a fire in a maisonette on Crichton Street in November last year.
37 year old Collison Edwards and 23 year old Andre Johnson have been charged with murder.
While 20 year old Max Walters has been charged with arson with intent and assisting an offender.
All three are due at the Old Bailey in September.

Tube strikes criticised
The Culture Secretary's criticised a union for planning Tube strikes during Wimbledon.
Jeremy Hunt has hit out at plans by the RMT to stage a series of walkouts starting the evening before the tournament begins.
Further strikes are due in the week beginning June 27th.

Surrey helps investigation
Surrey Cricket Board has been asked to help with the England and Wales Cricket Board's investigation into Mohammed Amir's appearance for a village side.
Pakistan bowler Amir appeared for Addington 1743 last week despite having been suspended from the game for five years for his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal in 2010.
Amir has denied he had broken the ban.
