Have a summer clearout and recycle in Richmond

With September fast approaching, Richmond Council is encouraging people to consider a late summer wardrobe clearout and take unwanted items to one of several new textile recycling banks around the borough.

Since July, European Recycling Company (ERC) is the Council’s new contractor for textiles recycling, providing textile and shoe banks at 31 recycling sites across the borough. With the launch of the new banks, Richmond Council aims to emphasise the need to reuse or recycle unwanted garments and reduce the one billion garments thrown away every year in the UK.

The textile banks can accept clean clothing, paired footwear, hats, scarves, gloves, bed linen, sheets, pillow cases, handbags, towels, belts and stuffed toys. The banks are in the following locations across Richmond upon Thames:
