The bodies of three children have been found at a house in New Malden.

Police were called to the £2 million property in Thetford Road at around 9:30 last night.

A 42 year old woman, believed to be their mother, has been arrested.

She was taken to St George's hospital suffering from minor injuries, but later taken into custody.

Police are not searching for anyone else in connection with the inquiry.

It is believed the family, originally from South Africa, had only moved to the area a year ago, and had been renovating the property.

A neighbour told us the family had four children, an older child and then a girl and twin boys.

The neighbour, who wished not to be named herself, named the couple as Gary and Tania Clarence.

The children, twin boys aged three and a girl aged four, are believed to have had degenerative disorders, and their mother, was their main carer.

Their father is a banking exec at City firm Investec. He is flying back from his native South Africa, where he has been with his eldest child.

Post mortem examinations are due to take place "in due course."

Jackie's Lucy Mayer was at the scene earlier.

Reporter Joe Tidy is also at the scene.

Joy Devis has met them all, but says she doesn't know the nature of their condition.

Kingston Police have made this statement.
