0.1% fewer candidates got a grade A* to E this summer.

But the proportion of top results awarded has gone up again - the number of A-stars handed out this year was up 8-point-2 percent.

We were at Tolworth Girls School and Sixth Form as these students got their results.

The school also added:

We are a truly inclusive sixth form and are delighted that the aspiration we have for our students has been realised. There has been a marked increase in the number of our students taking up Medical Sciences and highly competitive degree places. The number of students accepted into the Russell group and onto their first choice Universities places has also increased significantly.

There has also been an increase in the number of A*/A grades and the number of students achieving all A and A*grades at A level has also been most impressive. We are also very pleased that a number of students eligible for UCAS Adjustment to improve their offers has increased. All of our students at all abilities have experienced success.

There has been a fantastic atmosphere at the school today, the school has exceeded its targets and the vast majority of our students have exceeded their expectations.

It has been an outstanding morning, our staff and our students have worked so hard to achieve these results and we are so pleased that we have been able to enable them to move to the next stage of their lives.
