A consultation on proposed changes to bus routes in Richmond, Twickenham and Whitton is due to end tomorrow


It comes after a review of services revealed that a number of busses in the area were running with spare capacity.

The review also identified missing links around Whitton and Chertsey Road.

The proposed changes will affect routes 110, 419, 493, H22 and H37.

A man is in hospital following an assault on a tram track in Croydon

It happened close to Black Horse Lane station at around 2.45 yesterday afternoon.

In a post on social media, one witness said they saw a person with a knife in the area at the time of the incident.

Police say no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

People in Elmbridge are being asked to fill out a survey to decide the future of Hersham Village Hall

It's had an unclear future since it was closed due to its poor condition some time ago.

Councillor Tim Oliver is urging residents to respond to the questions, which ask how the community facilities should be used in the future.

The survey will run until the 25th of January.

Lee Pomeroy was stabbed following a row with another passenger on a service from Guildford to Waterloo yesterday.

He was with his 14-year-old son at the time.

His family say he was an "honest, bright person, who loved music".

A man has been taken to hospital after collapsing outside Morrisons supermarket in Woking earlier this morning.

A man has been taken to hospital after collapsing outside Morrisons supermarket in Woking earlier this morning.

The man, who is in his 40s, was found lying on the ground opposite the store around half past 8.

The supermarket was closed whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.

The man, who is believed to have suffered a medical episode, was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting by air ambulance where he is currently being treated.

Detectives also say the 51-year-old victim had been involved in a discussion with the attacker for several minutes before he was killed - in front of his teenage son.

The 51-year-old man was killed in front of his teenage son on a Guildford to London service at around 1 o'clock yesterday.

Superintendent Paul Langley says they're looking for a black man in his 20s or 30s.

Two men have been arrested in relation to the murder of Charlotte Huggins in Camberwell on New Year’s Day

Emergency services were called to a residential address on John Ruskin Street after the victim was fatally stabbed.

A 34 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder while a second man, also aged 34, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting a murder.

Both are currently in custody at a south London station.

The driver, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger in the car at the time was not injured.

Sha-Re Phillips was last seen in Pooley Green in Egham on Wednesday evening and police are concerned for her safety.

She has links to Egham and the North Surrey area.

She is described as white, around 5 ft 5, of a medium build, and has dyed blonde shoulder-length hair.

She was last seen wearing a charcoal grey puffer jacket and black leggings.

Police are appealing for help after a cyclist was hit by a car in Epsom

Video footage of the incident only came to the attention of officers recently.

However they believe it happened last year at the corner of Somerset Close and Hollymore Lane on the Longmead Estate.

The driver can be seen deliberately knocking over a man on his bike before driving away.

Police are asking anyone who may be able to identify the victim or driver to contact them on 101.

A Surrey Police officer has been found guilty of assault whilst carrying out an arrest in Epsom

In 2017, Police Constable Matthew Fitzgibbon punched a 20-year-old man in the head as he lay on the floor.

His colleagues raised concerns following the incident and an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct was launched.

PC Fitzgibbon will be sentenced on January 18th.

A man who sexually assaulted two women in the street in Tooting has been jailed

32 year old Mohammed Abedin pleaded guilty to the assaults, which took place on Upper Tooting Road on New Year’s Day within minutes of each other.

Both times he approached the women and tried to engage in conversation with them before committing the assaults.

As well as serving one year in prison, he will also be placed on the sex offenders register for ten years.

Cannabis factory discovered in Chipstead

Police are appealing for information after discovering a cannabis factory in Chipstead.

It was discovered at a property in Upper Pines.

Police say it had an estimated street value to be in excess of £100,000.

Nobody was found inside the property.

Police have launched a murder enquiry following a stabbing on board a train in Surrey.

It happened just before 1 between Guildford and Waterloo at Horsley.

The victim suffered a fatal stab wound and died at the scene.

A number of officers are now in the Clandon area, where the suspect is believed to have disembarked.

No arrests have been made.

Officers found the man semi-clothed on the kerbside of the A217 on Wednesday night, following reports of concerns for his welfare.

However, when they approached him, he lashed out punching two officers as they attempted to detain him.

'Lucky coincidence' meant Surrey Police saved woman in Canada from suicide

A ‘lucky coincidence’ helped Surrey Police save a woman from committing suicide almost 5,000 miles away in Canada on Christmas Day.

After receiving a message on social media from the 23 year old, it soon became clear the woman had confused the force with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Surrey, British Columbia.

But fortunately, a Canadian police officer was on attachment with the force, staying with a school friend and Surrey Police operator for Christmas.

She called her Vancouver counterparts, meaning officers were able to find the woman alive before taking her to hospital.

West Molesey Sainsbury's stabbing trial begins

The trail of a 22-year-old man from Thames Ditton, charged with attempted murder and wounding with intent, begun at Kingston Crown Court today.

The court heard that victim Charlie O'Leary was stabbed in a ‘deeply traumatic and distressing’ attack.

It happened outside Sainsbury’s on Walton Road in West Molesey in July last year.

The court was also told there had been a confrontation earlier that day between defendant Rudi Brooks and the victim, who believed Brooks was responsible for a burglary at his home.

The trial is expected to resume tomorrow.

Police are appealing for information after a woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted in Croydon.

The victim was walking alone on Park Street at around 3am on New Year’s Day when she was dragged into an alley and pushed to the floor by a man who then tried to remove her tights.

After she kicked him away, the man ran from the scene with her mobile and bag.

The suspect is described as white, between 30-40 years old, of slim build and with shoulder length dark hair.

It’s believed he has a south London accent and was wearing a black hooded top at the time of the incident.

It's believed Heathrow has ordered millions of pounds worth of anti-drone defences

Gatwick and Heathrow airports have apparently ordered military-grade anti-drone defences, worth several million pounds.

The Times claims it's to prevent a repeat of the disruption last month, which affected about a thousand flights at Gatwick because of a drone near the runway.

Army officials temporarily brought in some hardware to help, which has now been withdrawn.

A clinic in Raynes Park says that the UK has one of the highest levels of e-cigarette use in Europe.

Easyway is the biggest stop-smoking clinic in London.

The key advice from Public Health England is e-cigarettes are 95% less harmful than smoking whilst still containing nicotine.

The clinic says that people are still partly addicted to the “playboy” image of smoking from previous decades.

Two burglars have been jailed with a combined sentence of over five years after pleading guilty.

24 year old Shane Warburton from Hanworth was sentenced to three years for two counts of burglary.

23 year old Joseph Brazil from Leatherhead recieved two years 10 months.

The offences took place in Leatherhead and Epsom in November and the pair were arrested as they tried to make their escape in Epsom.

Around three fire engines are still at a self-storage warehouse in Croydon

They’re expected to stay there throughout the day.

Many of the surrounding roads have reopened, with the only remaining closure being the southbound carriageway of Faraday Way.

At the height of the fire, the entire four storey building was alright.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

That’s according to the Head of Design Barry Weekes who told the Mail Online the tiles change to black near check in desks and security lanes.

The colour of the floor was also chosen so scuff marks from travellers’ shoes through the airport would not disrupt the design.

The supermarket chain Iceland says recycling vending machines it's been trialing in Fulham have proven a hit.

Since May, shoppers have been able to use “reverse vending machines” which give a 10p shopping voucher in return for each bottle.

The scheme, which has also been testing in 4 other locations, has seen over 300,000 bottles returned in total.

So, Iceland has given out more than £30,000 worth in vouchers.

Footage posted on social media shows Krystal Mission being attacked outside Lotus club shortly before 4am on Tuesday morning.

The 21-year-old has since spoken on Instagram about how the man took off his watch, bag and coat before hitting her in the face.

Police are asking for help in tracing four suspects involved in a Christmas Day robbery in Egham

At around 9pm the taxi driver was on Bakeham Lane taking his passengers to Addlestone Hospital when they assaulted him, stole his keys and drove off.

The woman wore a red jacket, one of the men had a thin moustache and another had short brown hair brushed to the side.

The green Volvo S80 was recovered in Farnborough but was damaged.

South East Coast Ambulance handled an average of 200 calls an hour on New Year’s Eve

Ambulance crews responded to 1,100 incidents between 5pm on 31st December and 5am on New Year’s Day.

They are thanking its staff and volunteers for their hard work over the festive period.

They are proposing to build 161 houses and three storey flats.

A man has been bailed after a 30-year-old woman was fatally stabbed at a residential address in Southwark

The emergency services were called to a property on John Ruskin Street in Camberwell at 4:20am yesterday morning.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder after the woman was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information should call 101.

The volunteers from Putney, Raynes Park and Wimbledon took to the streets with brooms and bin bags and offered communal prayers.

The ‘Big Street Clean’ campaign is one of many initiatives carried out by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth association.

Detectives are investigating an attack outside a nightclub in Clapham

Footage has emerged of 21 year old Krystal Mission being brutally assaulted shortly before 4am yesterday outside the Lotus club.

Krystal has spoken on Instagram about how the man took off his "watch, bag and coat" before hitting her in the face.

Police are trying to trace the man and enquiries continue.

Wandsworth speedboat crash Fugitive is allowed to appeal his conviction

A fugitive who killed his date in a speedboat crash on the Thames in Wandsworth has been allowed to appeal his conviction.

30 year old Jack Shepherd was found guilty of manslaughter in July and handed a jail sentence but has been on the run ever since.

24-year-old Charlotte Brown died in December 2015 after being thrown from Mr Shepherds speedboat during a champagne fuelled night.

Layers acting for Mr Shepherd launched an appeal and appeal court judges have ruled that he does have a strong enough case.

Mr Shephered who lived on the houseboat in Hammersmith originally denied manslaughter charges.

Purley Way fire UPDATE

Firefighters continue to tackle a fire at a four block bulk storage site off the Purley Way.

Shurgard - which runs the facility in Croydon - says it will contact all customers in the next two days.

A spokesman from the company talked to the BBC earlier and said ‘that the entire building had been destroyed’.

There are currently 70 firefighters tackling the fire which is said to be under control.

The cause of the fire which started just before 8pm last night is unknown at this stage.

There are no reported injuries but items ruined include furniture and some vintage pinball machines.

Police continue their appeal in Epsom

Police are continuing their appeal for information in Epsom after a collision left two teenagers seriously injured in hospital.

Offers were called to the junction of Ruxley Lane and Jasmin Lane at 8pm last night where a blue Peugeot Moped and Silver Ford Galaxy collided.

One teenager suffered injuries to his head and chest but are not thought to be life threatening.

Meanwhile the second teenager suffered minor injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision should call police on 101.

At the last report there were 10 fire engines and 70 firefighters and the blaze is said to be under control.

Claudio Ranieri is hoping the extra recovery time his players had after the weekend, could help them in their fixture at Arsenal today.

Fulham had a home win against Huddersfield on Saturday while Unai Emery's side travelled to Liverpool which they lost 5-1.

But Ranieri doesn't expect Arsenal to be affected by the defeat.

Fire brigade and police still at site of blaze off Purley Way

Emergency services remain at the scene of a fire on Purley Way in Croydon - some local roads remain closed but businesses are open according to Croydon Police.

The fire was continuing to burn and smoke was said to be issuing from a four-storey bulk storage site - it's near the Beddington Farm Road by the A 23.

At the last report there were 10 fire engines and 70 firemen.

It started just before 8 last night and the cause is unknown.

There were no injuries.

Two teens in hospital after NYE collision in Epsom

Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision on New Year’s Eve which has left two teenagers in hospital - one with life-threatening injuries.

The collision happened at the junction of Ruxley Lane and Jasmin Lane in Epsom between a blue Peugeot moped and a Silver Ford Galaxy.

A teenager was seriously injured to his head and chest.

A second teenager suffered serious injuries to his hand. Both remain in hospital, where they were taken by ambulance.

Any witnesses should ring Surrey Police on 101 and quote reference PR/45180138558.

Officers particularly need dash-cam, helmet-cam or CCTV footage.

The procession will include floats from Croydon, Sutton, Merton, Hounslow and Hillingdon.

Teens released under investigation after Hammersmith stabbing

Thirty-nine people arrested following a stabbing in Hammersmith have been released from custody.

The 20 males and 15 females - aged between 16 and 22 – had earlier been seen going into a nearby home which was hosting a party.

The stabbing victim had been chased by a number of male and female suspects following a row in a shop - and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Forty-four-year-old Lucy Chisholm was last seen in the Barnes area.

She’s considered vulnerable and concern is growing for her wellbeing.

Lucy is about 5-feet-7 and has blond hair.

He was abused online when he missed a penalty after refusing to give the ball to designated penalty taker Mitrovic.

It follows Saturday's 1-0 win over Huddersfield after a late goal from Mitrovic himself.

Fulham have described the comments as damaging and hurtful. It maintains that the club prides itself on its respect and civility.

A man has died and another is left with serious injuries in hospital, following a collision in Cobham.

In the early hours of the yesterday morning police were called to Seven Hills Road South near the Hilton Hotel- to reports that a Peugeot had collided with two parked cars.

The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, whilst his passenger was taken to hospital.

The number of disabled parking permits that have been stolen has gone up by 45% in the last year.

Over 4,200 were stolen in England and the Department for Transport says some councils have not been taking the appropriate action.

Hammersmith and Fulham council however did prosecute 137 people last year, making it one of the top areas that acted accordingly.

The blue badge exempts Londoners from the congestion charge.
