A man’s been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after attempting to push a police officer from a balcony in Carshalton

Police were called to an address in Stanley Road just before 9 o’clock last night following reports of a man attacking other family members.

Two female officers attended and found a 22-year-old man on the stairwell of the address.

He had injuries to his hand after the officers witnessed him punching through a window.

The two officers attempted to detain him and it was then that one of them was repeatedly kicked.

The other was put in a strangle hold and the suspect then tried to push her off the third floor balcony.

The offices managed to activate their emergency radio alarm.

The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Both of the officers were taken to hospital as a precaution.
