A much loved pub in New Malden will not be turned into flats . . . . for the time being

The Royal Oak in Coombe Road has been sold by owners Greene King to another brewery, although the name hasn’t been revealed.

The pub will now close for refurbishment.

Campaigners worried about the rate of development in New Malden say they are satisfied for the time being.

Other pubs up for demolition include The Fountain and the Prince of Wales, where Eric Clapton once played.
