A Weybridge based developer has been prosecuted for uprooting and destroying trees in a conservation area in Dorking.

A District Judge sentenced Runneymede Homes to a £15,000 fine and ordered them to pay costs.

The trees to the rear of the White Horse Hotel were removed in preparation for nine new homes being built on the site.

The developer has since planted new, smaller trees although the Council hasn’t yet agreed the details of the replanting.
