London has seen a 72% increase in reported missing persons cases over the last decade.


That’s about 55,000 investigations each year at a cost of between £70 and £130 million to the Met Police.

Officers hand some cases over to East Sheen based charity Missing People.

Its Policy and Campaigns manager Josie Allan says the team is trying to help take the pressure off the force.
