The Surrey and Sussex Roads Policing Unit are running ‘Operation Close Pass’ this weekend aiming to increase safety on our roads.

The operation hopes to deal with any offences of speeding and dangerous driving, and reduce the number of incidents involving cyclists, motorists, and horse riders.

Officers will be positioned at two locations during the weekend including the Box Hill area, as well as the A25 from Shere to Newlands Corner.

They will be equipped with video capability while cycling along the routes as a ‘spotter’, identifying any ‘close pass’ incidents and motoring offences breaching the road traffic act.
