Three primary schools in Richmond are to receive “School Street” status by Monday

It’s after the Council used emergency powers to allow them to be introduced.

A School Street is where a road around a school temporarily closes to all vehicles except immediate road residents at start and finish times.

They ensure a safer space for children around their school, contribute to reduced pollution and encourage sustainable travel.

The Council was working with Twickenham Primary Academy, Orleans Primary and St Stephen’s Church of England.

The intended consultation with residents was put on hold during the pandemic.
