The family of Rachel Nickell say they are considering landmark legal action against the Metropolitan Police.
The 23 year old was walking with her 2 year old son Alex on Wimbledon Common when she was stabbed to death in 1992. Rachel’s former partner Andre Hanscombe and Alex are considering the action against the Met Police. It’s after a review found that there was a 'catalogue of errors' in the original investigation. Robert Napper was convicted of Rachel’s manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility in 2008. But Andre and Alex told Good Morning Britain that police should have acted on a tip-off from the serial killer's own mother in 1989. Recognising individual officers did their best, they say Rachel would still be here if the tip-off had been investigated.
