Residents at the property in Antrobus Road called the RSPCA after discovering the animal in a plastic box on their doorstep.
The charity, which has called the reptile Eddie Lizard, says that iguanas require a heat lamp to survive in this country.
Iguanas have been seen dropping out of trees in Florida recently, where it’s a comparatively balmy 22 degrees, because of the cold.
