A secondary school in Sutton has been selected by the government’s 10-year school rebuilding programme.

Greenshaw High School is a coeducational academy teaching 1600 pupils in the Sutton area.

The school was built in the late 1960s, and plans have emerged for an overhaul of the academy which would see most of the old buildings demolished to make way for two modern three storey blocks.

Full plans are expected to be submitted in the coming weeks, and if plans are approved work could start next year.
