The Kitchen Cupboard Clear-out is encouraging people to raid their cupboards for food they won’t use and donate it.
The leftovers will go in Merton’s Community Fridge for distribution to those facing food poverty in the borough.
Nearly 15 million tonnes of food and drink is thrown away in the UK every year and nearly half of this is deemed fit to consume.
