Virginia Water is Surrey property hotspot

Virginia Water has the most expensive homes outside of the capital with the average price now topping a million pounds

A new survey out today shows that the price of some properties has rocketed in the last year with nearly 80,000 additional homes worth more than a million.

Zoopla’s property rich list shows that there are now 323,000 ‘million pound plus’ homes in Britain.

That’s an increase of 23% since last year.

Kensington of course is where the most expensive houses are - with the average price now £2.3m.

Outside London, Cobham sees an average price of £842,000 – the second highest, with Esher in 5th place at £774,000.

Richmond comes in as the seventh most expensive town with £718,000 being the average price of a home.

If you break down the figures by the number of streets with million pound houses, then Mitcham and Kingston also make it onto the rich list.
