Sutton Police starts to name and shame those convicted of domestic abuse

In a new initiative, the Met Police and the Safer Sutton Partnership Service, which manages the borough's community safety services, will be joining forces to name and shame individuals convicted of domestic abuse.

Their first focus is Kasey Singh, a 27-year-old welder, who mentally and physically abused a 31-year-old mother of two children from Sutton.

Initially, Singh continued to be a loving partner when they were out with friends. But he began to become controlling and manipulative and then increasingly aggressive and violent.

The worst incident was on 17 February 2013 when Singh deliberately left her alone in a club in Croydon without any money leaving her to walk home alone to Sutton at 03:00hrs.

Singh returned to her flat at around 04:30hrs and threatened to kick down the door. After several attempts to ask him to leave, she opened the front door. He immediately cornered her in the kitchen and punched her straight in the left eye. She fell to the ground where he kicked and punched her in the face and head. He told her: "Be quiet or I'll punch you in your other eye."

During the attack Singh said: "You might be pregnant with my baby: shall I punch it out of you?'" The victim was not pregnant with his baby nor was he the father of either of her two children.

A spokesman for the Safer Sutton Partnership Service, which manages the service, said: "There are many more victims out there who would benefit greatly from the advice and support on offer. Alternatively, you can call Victim Support on 020 7801 1777 for support and advice.
