A man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after stabbing a shop keeper in Colliers Wood.

47 year old Liam Killigrew was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to a knife point robbery, GBH and criminal damage.

Killigrew was caught trying to steal money from the shop in Liberty Avenue when he stabbed the shop keeper in the back.

Other staff then pulled the shutters down, detaining him inside the premises before calling police.

The shopkeeper was taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed as significant but not life changing.
