A number of offences have been reported to police in public spaces and on buses, usually in daylight hours.
Items such as mobile phones and wallets are being targeted, often without the victim realising they have been stolen.
Plain clothed patrols have been increased in “hot spot” areas to tackle the problem and stop and search is in place where necessary.
