Asda is denying it has “given up” on social distancing measures at its Norbiton store.

It’s after some shoppers we spoke to yesterday claimed hoards of people are being allowed in making the 2-metre rule "impossible to adhere to."

One customer told us the aisles were also blocked with promotional objects and stands meaning it was even harder to keep a safe distance with other shoppers having to give way to on-coming traffic.

They also say the tills, which were not all open, were so busy the queues went all the way up the aisles.

Another customer also says social distancing info was not clearly displayed upon arrival into the store, but "pinned up side-ways" as you enter through the doors instead of front-on.

A spokesman for the supermarket chain has told us;

“We have rolled out an extensive number of social distancing measures at our Norbiton and Roehampton stores to help ensure that our customers and colleagues remain safe. We ask that our customers please continue to follow the guidance which is clearly marked in all of our stores. We continue to follow Public Health England’s guidelines to protect our customers and colleagues including different social distancing measures such as limiting the amount of people in store at any one time, two-metre markers, barriers at tills and other key points around the store amongst other measures.’’
