Hounslow Council say they’re aware of a petition to reverse measures they’ve put in place to make roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists in South Chiswick

The council are trying to capitalise on the significant reduction in traffic levels to reallocate road space.

Their actions come in response to new government guidance on changing travel habits ‘as swiftly as possible’ before restrictions are eased.

The use of motor vehicles is now back to nearly 70% of pre-lockdown levels making social distancing difficult for cyclists and pedestrians.

Hounslow Council have now acknowledged people weren’t given enough input into the decision.

In a statement they said the measures ‘will be brought in on a trial basis’ and will now write to everyone in the area.
