Lawyers are using Heathrow expansion as a legal precedent, as they attempt to block the government’s road investment plan.

The Court of Appeal ruled against Heathrow expansion in February on environmental grounds.

The Transport Action Network have submitted a claim to the High Court, saying the £27bn plan is unlawful for the same reason.

The Department for Transport has 21 days to submit a response.
