Sutton Council’s leader has promised to champion diversity in the borough in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

Ruth Dombey says it is “right we recognise the tragedy and the forever-changed lives of the friends and family of George.”

Ms Dombey has also commended the work done by law enforcement and under the UK model of policing by consent.

Finishing her statement, she said we all need to “reflect about the injustice of racism, and its impact locally, nationally and globally.”
