The future of Epsom hospital is still unclear despite a public consultation ending in April

Residents were asked to provide their views on where they’d like to see a new “state of the art” hospital built.

The choices were Epsom, St Helier or Sutton, near to the Royal Marsden.

Clinical Commissioning groups made up of GPs, and NHS England made it clear they prefer Sutton as the preferred option.

But Chris Grayling has now advised them that more work needs to be done before a final decision is made.

The Tory MP for Epsom and Ewell feels that the needs of future beds, particularly critical, still need to be assessed.

He wants all services retained at Epsom; if a new site is built at Sutton, only 85% of services will continue to operate there.
