40 years after an athlete with one leg died after running over 3,000 miles across Canada, a virtual run’s being held for cancer research.

Terry Fox had lost his leg to bone cancer, and during his fundraiser in 1980 the illness spread to his lungs.

All over the world, people will run, walk and cycle for the Institute of Cancer Research in Sutton.

Professor Chris Bakal says “even as a young kid” he was “amazed” by how “superhuman” Terry was, and he “redefined” how one person can change the world.

He also said they need to continue their research “with even greater resolve”.
