The South West Law Centre has been handed The Legal Aid Lawyers of the Year award.
The move has been supported by David Challen from Claygate.
He successfully campaigned for the release of his mother Sally who was jailed for life for the murder of her husband in 2010.
She was freed last year after her sentence was commuted to manslaughter on the grounds he was abusive.
