A mobile Coronavirus testing unit will be in place at London Olympia in Kensington today and tomorrow
It’s after it was revealed that Kensington and Chelsea has one of the highest hospital detected Covid-19 infection rates in London.
The figures, from Public Health England, looked at rates per 100,000 people.
A spokesman for Kensington and Chelsea Council says that can be misleading as the borough only has 160,000 residents.
Houda Al-Sharifi, Director of Public Health for Kensington and Chelsea says:
“We are working with the NHS and Public Health England to do all we can to limit the spread of coronavirus.
In Kensington and Chelsea we had just 25 new cases from the 1st of June to the 24th of June across the whole borough, with no obvious clustering, but we are monitoring the local and national situations closely and on a daily basis.
As lockdown eases everyone has the responsibility to help limit the spread of coronavirus by staying two metres from people outside your household wherever possible, wear a face covering when on public transport and in busy shops, and washing your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds.”
