Croydon Council has begun the next stage of working out how many new homes are to be built over the next two decades

Up to 46,000 are needed in the borough by 2039 based on Government figures.

Croydon was also named by London Mayor Sadiq Khan, as an area that should plan for an increase.

His new London Plan is still being developed but it is expected to be adopted next year.
