Firefighters and control staff have been offered a 2% pay rise

However, the Norbiton-based Fire Brigades Union has called it “insulting”, saying they’ve had a decade of pay restraint.

They’re saying that they’ve been taking on extra work during the pandemic, such as driving ambulances.

The 2% offer is the same as judges, senior civil servants, and the armed forces, but below teachers and police.

The union will now launch a consultation.
