Lib Dem Councillor Paul Kohler says he’s been told the site is to be used as a combined emergency response unit for Merton and Wandsworth.
He says although it’s not a guarantee the station won’t fall victim to cost cutting measures in the future, it’s a, “positive sign.”
Wimbledon’s 24-hour front desk will also remain open.
