If a bird is seriously injured, it is transported to the sanctuary via veterinary ambulance and then assessed.
The sanctuary is the only one in the country to have an operating theatre for swans.
Once a swan regains its strength it is transferred to a rehabilitation pen before being released back into its natural habitat.
