Today marks 75 years since Clement Attlee became Prime Minister


The Putney-born Labour leader was the first post-war PM, and oversaw the creation of the NHS and welfare state.

Croydon Central Labour MP Sarah Jones hosted a discussion of his life yesterday, and says he wasn’t “the most charismatic man”, but it “shows what a doer with deep conviction can get done”.
