Wet wipes and sanitary products are changing the shape of the Thames riverbed

That’s according to environmental charity Thames21.

In Barnes alone, a mound of wet wipes has grown to 1.4 metres, equivalent to four tennis courts, over the past six years.

The charity’s appealing for improved labelling that highlights the damage done when flushing them down the loo.
