They were called around midday on Monday to reports of a “dog” in the water behind Sainsbury’s jetty.
When they got there, they saw it was in fact a fox, and was sitting in the lap of a kayaker in between the jetty and a 20ft high river wall.
The RSPCA say the animal is well and has been released into the wild.
