First kidney transplant takes place in St George's Hospital since lockdown

A 28 year old man has become the first person to undergo a kidney transplant at St George’s Hospital in Tooting since lockdown.

The service was temporarily paused in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alistair Dow, who was diagnosed with kidney disease last March, received the organ from his 57 year old father, Alan.

One month on, the pair are recovering at home and Alistair no longer needs nightly dialysis.
