It's been the hottest August day since 2003 with temperatures reaching 36.4 celsius at Heathrow Airport and Kew Gardens.

A heat health warning's been issued across the south and east of the UK, with the sweltering conditions expected to last through the weekend.

The coastguard says it's responded to dozens of calls and has urged people to stay safe on the beach.
