Kingston Council’s former leader is backing Sir Ed Davey’s rival to become leader of the Lib Dems.
Liz Green says the decision to support Layla Moran in the contest is “difficult” as she has known Sir Ed for 20 years.
However, she says the party cannot recover in Local Government with a polling of “just 6%.”
In a tweet, she said she doesn’t think the MP for Kingston and Surbiton can achieve what’s needed.
Meanwhile, Mr Davey is calling for a green recovery plan to deliver jobs and tackle climate change post Covid.
The MP for Kingston and Surbiton is acting leader of the Lib Dems ahead of the party’s leadership contest.
The Liberal Democrats are also urging the Government to continue furlough support until it is safe.
