Merton Council will apologise to a man they placed in temporary accommodation in Birmingham - after he became homeless.

This caused him to give up one of the two jobs he was working to provide for his family.

The Council have also been ordered to pay nearly two-thousand pounds to the unnamed man, by the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman.

The report also recommended Merton Council remind staff of best practices and review its placement policy.
