The closures of Hammersmith Bridge and Vauxhall Bridge are bringing chaos to nearby businesses who are already struggling with the impacts of the coronavirus lockdown.

Last week, Hammersmith Bridge was shut to pedestrians and cyclists 16 months after it banned vehicles.

Now users of Vauxhall Bridge will face 16 weeks of delays after it has been closed until November for “vital” repairs.

The crossing is the last over the Thames on the west side of the congestion charge zone, meaning users will either have to queue to use Chelsea bridge or pay £15 to use Lambeth Bridge.
