Research by the University of Roehampton found the average number seen by each counsellor dropped from 14 to 7.
However, the amount of video counselling increased from 18 minutes to nearly three hours.
The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy is expecting to see a “rush” of children seeking support when term restarts.
They’re campaigning for the Government to fund a paid counsellor in every secondary school in England, like in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
