A man who tried to rape a woman in a violent attack in a park in Colliers Wood has been jailed.

21 year old Khaled Argoub from Tooting was given an extended sentence of 22 years for count one of attempted rape.

Fourteen of those he will spend in custody.

He will be considered for parole after serving two thirds of the 14 years.

The victim, aged in her twenties, was heading home after a night out with friends in February.

She boarded The Night Tube, where Argoub followed her, and walked along a residential street off Colliers Wood High Street.

Argoub grabbed her, forcing her in to Wandle Park, where he attempted to attack her.

The woman managed to escape and Argoub was later traced via CCTV and DNA.
