A new pond has been created in Ham Common Woods to help migrating toads and other wildlife

Dug by Richmond Council and the charity Frog Life, the aim is to create an extra habitat for the creatures.

Every March, a “toadblock” is put in place in Church Road by Richmond Council for about three weeks.

It’s to allow breeding toads to safely make the 10- metre crossing from Ham Common to the other side of the road to spawn.
